Local know-how

Planning a move in Edmonton

Three things that shape moving day here, and what to do about each.

  • Condo and apartment elevators

Many Edmonton condo and apartment buildings ask residents to book the service elevator, and some take a deposit. Book it at both ends as soon as you have a date and send us the time slot.

  • Month-end and summer weekends

Leases turn over on the first of the month, so the last few days of a month and summer weekends fill first. A mid-month weekday gives you the most choice.

  • Winter moves

From November to March, plan for snow and ice at both doors. Clear and salt the walkways and steps, and keep room at the curb for the truck.

Questions

Moving in Edmonton: common questions

How much does a move cost in Edmonton?

Our rate is $169 an hour for two movers and a truck, plus $45 an hour for each extra mover. The hours depend on the size of the home, the stairs at each end and the drive, so the moving estimator turns your answers into a price range, and your quote confirms it.

Do you move outside Edmonton city limits?

Yes. Anywhere within about 50 km is a local move, including St. Albert, Sherwood Park, Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, Leduc, Beaumont. Further out, our long-distance service covers Red Deer, Calgary and the rest of Canada.

What should I do before the crew arrives?

Finish packing, empty dresser drawers of anything heavy or fragile, book the elevator if you have one, and keep a clear path from the door to the truck.

Is it quicker to call or to use the online form?

Either works. The form takes about two minutes, and during office hours (8 AM to 5 PM, every day) we reply within 15 minutes. If your date is close, call (587) 545-6549.
